I'm trying to simulate the feeling of chinese inkpainting. but it's more difficult than i expect.
It take me a long time to get the texture right. and i still haven't figure out how to control the moisture of the bursh.
For the out come, some detail feels ok, but overall don't please me.
I'd like to know if you like this style or not, any comments please let me know.
and feel free to take it for any practicing or coloring. I probably won't be able to finish it with coloring.

press F5 in photoshop than you'll find the brush panel, where u can make customized brushes.
In this piece I used 3 or 4 brushes.
But the key point I think, is the understanding of the physic ink and texture. you may need to combine different brushes/strokes to simulate the dynamic liquid sort of feeling.

This looks wonderful- I completely fell in love with the style and the look. I think you really did capture the look of Chinese ink well (especially in the folds of the fabric) while still keeping the level of detail you want in her face and hair. It looks wonderful. :love:

Stunning job here, Kelly! It looks like you created this piece with a lot of grace! I admire everything about this picture... You bring out a certain beautiful and poignancy in Toph! And it's archaic in an ancient Chinese kind of way.. Really lovely job here! :)

Just lovely - I know absolutely nothing about painting, digital or otherwise, but it looks perfect to me! I especially love the loose folds in the fabric and the soft look to her hair.
